Wellington women to perform award-winning play “Talking With…” for youth charity

“… the monologue has taken on a new poetic form, intensive in its method and revelatory in its impact.” (Philadelphia Enquirer)

Pink Duck Productions is delighted to bring the hit American play Talking With to Drama Christi Studio in Wellington this month, where eleven idiosyncratic characters will make you laugh, cry, and ponder what life’s all about.

In profound performances comprising 11 quirky monologues, you’ll meet, among others, a baton twirler, a former rodeo rider, a fundamentalist snake handler, and an actress willing to go to any lengths to get a job.

The play will showcase the talents of some of Wellington’s favourite actors, including: Jane Waddell, Claire Waldron, Elle Wootton, Michelle Ny, Jean Sergent, Kim Osbourne-Smith, Rachel Ramsay, Heather O’Carroll, Sophie Hambleton, Sue Dugdale and Suzy Cain.

Written by ‘Jane Martin’, (the pen name of a mysterious Kentucky playwright), Talking With first gained national attention in the United States in 1982, receiving standing ovations at every performance when it premiered at Actors Theatre, in Louisville, Kentucky.  The play has since enchanted audiences all around the world.

Tickets are just $20 and all proceeds will go to the Foundation for Youth Development, a charity dedicated to the well-being of young people.

Talking With runs from 16-19 April at Drama Christi Studio Theatre in Taranaki Street. Book your tickets through Eventfinda.
